Hello
I’m Helen Lynch‑Young, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 25 years of experience serving individuals and families across the Capital Region. I founded The Therapeutic Wellness Practice to offer thoughtful, client-centered care that balances evidence-based methods with practical support. Whether I’m helping someone navigate a life transition, complete a court-ordered evaluation, or supervise a fellow clinician, my goal is the same: to provide a clear, grounded, and respectful space for growth and healing.

Experience That Meets You Where You Are
My clinical background spans community mental health, addiction recovery, trauma-informed therapy, and problem gambling treatment. Over the years, I’ve worked with a diverse range of clients and professionals—including individuals navigating personal challenges, attorneys seeking reliable evaluations, and clinicians looking for supervision and consultation.
In my private practice, I specialize in helping adults manage anxiety, trauma, substance use, life transitions, and relationship challenges. I’m also an NYS OASAS-approved provider of DWI evaluations and offer court-accepted assessments for substance use, gambling, and mental health needs.

My Approach
Every client comes with their own story—and I strive to meet each person with respect, transparency, and a clear plan forward. My role isn’t to offer all the answers, but to help you identify meaningful goals and take steps toward lasting change. I use evidence-informed approaches, including motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral strategies, and trauma-sensitive care, always adapted to your needs.
For clients referred by legal or workplace systems, I bring a balance of clinical rigor and practical communication. My evaluations are comprehensive, professional, and designed to meet the needs of both clients and referring professionals.
